Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and dark forces increasing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The third episode finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
  • Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could help the party reach areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
